The Volga-Baltic Waterway in this year carried almost as much cargo as a stable Soviet times. Quick-2011 is completed. However, the respite will not. In winter, the road is being prepared for a new working season.

Adopted by the Government of the targeted programs of modernization of transport system of Russia allocates funds to improve navigation conditions. Primarily deepen and widen the fairways, because in the 90 waterways in some places simply "washed out" by cutting and in width, and depth. This year alone, the area Vitegra — White Lake Watershed channel dredging made of more than 500,000 cubic meters of soil.

Ongoing strengthening of banks, the expansion of approach channels, construction of quay walls that vessels were easier to disperse. For the first time in the last two decades, Russia has started to upgrade the river fleet. Two cargo ship carrying capacity of five tons, built on the Volga "Captain Ruzmankin" and "Captain Kadomtsev," has made one flight.
