September 29, 2013. September 24 in the eastern part of Pakistan was an earthquake of magnitude 7.7. It was not only the cause of death of several hundred people, but also the emergence of a new island off the coast of Gwadar district. Local residents saw him after just half an hour after the earthquake. From the shores of the island is separated by only 600 meters.

NASA released satellite images of the new island. It has an oval shape, its width and length are 75 and 90 meters respectively, and the depth of water near its shores — about 15-20 meters, the data reported geologist Asif Inam of Pakistan's National Institute of Oceanography. A new island is composed of mud, sand and stones.

The scientists say that in this region like the island is not such a rarity — the present is the fourth near Gwadar on the Arabian Sea in the period since 1945. The life of these islands is quite small, they disappear under the influence of waves and winds. It is unlikely that the new island will last longer than a few months — in the best case of the year.
