Playing in the kitchen!

Playing in the kitchen! Photo from

Oh, how to do everything? .. It is necessary to cook dinner, do the cleaning, and the child would be nice to work out something interesting. But what if you combine housework and developmental activities? You think it is impossible? We assure you it is not so! In the kitchen there is always lots of important things for a child of any age.

From 3 to 12 months

At this age, the baby will be a pleasure to watch her mother sitting in a high chair or chaise lounge chair. Comment on their actions — now we dishwater potatoes, now clean it with a knife, and now cook in a saucepan. Maybe at first you will feel like you are talking about "the void", but these comments are very important for speech development of your crumbs.

After 6 months of a child learns to manipulate various objects, and various kitchen utensils safe in this respect — a treasure trove for the kid and his busy mom! Give the child of a few plastic bowls with lids of various sizes, disposable cups, wooden spoons, and you will save on the purchase of a whole heap of educational toys. Bowls and cups can be put into one another, hide under them small toys, banging them on the table, listening to the different sounds. Great fun — plastic water bottles. They can be left empty or filled with water, small toys, a variety of cereals (but do not need to fill out before the end of the bottle, then the child would be happy to look like moving specks or poured water). Such bottles interesting to roll and turn. Do not give crumbs all these treasures at once. As long as he can play at the same time with a single, maximum, two toys.

From one year to three years

Speech therapists and psychologists never tire of repeating that language development is directly linked to the development of fine motor skills. The fact that speech brain area formed under the influence of impulses coming from the fingers. Do you want to make your child more quickly started talking — to develop fine motor skills!

Mosaic, special finger games and didactic sessions — is all well and good, but then again — when? Meanwhile, the kitchen has a lot of ready-made allowances for the development of fine motor skills.

The classic version — play "Cinderella." Remember, as the villain, the stepmother made her poor stepdaughter to touch the bag cereals? We are with you, perhaps, a handful of beans and restrict, for example, buckwheat. It was interesting to sort through, podyschu couple of toys of different sizes, for example, the bird will suit small grains, and pig — more seeds. Make sure only to crumb choked "didactic materials", having decided to taste it.

In the famous educator Maria Montessori has a special exercise — pour cereal or flour with a spoon from one bowl to another. Try? The kid is happy to help you knead the dough, mound the flour out of the can into a bowl. What is interesting to sift flour or semolina through a sieve is the real! By the way, if you pour the same flour or semolina with a thin layer on a tray, you can draw something on her finger. Gently shake the tray, and the pellet re-formed on it evenly — you can draw again!

Screw the lid on cans and bottles — Is also a great exercise for the development of fine motor skills. Gently tell the child what color or that cover, and soon the baby will surprise you with the basic knowledge of colors.

Fascinate children and playing with water. Move the chair to the sink, turn on the water trickle or type it into a large bowl and place the baby on a chair (I warn you, the clothes will soon become wet, so it is better to do without it — still then disguise). In a bowl, you can start a sponge-boats or pour water from one cup to another. It is possible that the case is over a small flood. However, as shown, to reverse the effects of this flood is much easier than a half hour to entertain the child, and when he finally fell asleep, wasting precious time on cooking dinner.

Pasta fantasy

One night I called a friend, which did not yet have any children, and the secular tone asked what I was doing. "Crash pasta gouache," — I answered honestly. At the other end of the tube there was a tense pause and friend politely asked, "What is your non-colored pasta child does not eat?"

Now she has got a girlfriend and a baby too paints pasta. At night. Because the day she and her son are doing crafts. Painted in gouache pasta — it is a great material for a variety of useful things: beads, appliques, even collages. In order to qualify crafts not soiled hands then, can be mixed with PVA glue gouache in a 1:1 ratio. However, the paint is optional. Unpainted pasta can also be strung on a strong thread (if you purchase be sure the pasta to have a hole in the middle), to spread out their designs on cardboard plastered with clay and in the process learn colors and shapes. Different types of pasta can sort and count.

Experiment not only with pasta, but also with a variety of cereals, peas, beans.

Once potato, two potato …

And what about the arithmetic? The three-year toddler is quite able to count how many potatoes and carrots you need for the soup. And in the process, it can be seen gently, "Look, we've got three potatoes and two carrots. A total — five of vegetables. " At the same time train, by the way, and logical thinking, because we have combined the potatoes and carrots one concept "vegetables". Can be trusted to make out the crumbs and packages brought from the store. Only you will need to pre-remove "dangerous" eggs and glass jars bottles. Now parse: vegetables — on the bottom shelf of the fridge, fruit — in the basket. Here is the first experience of classification.

5 to 7 years

In the classroom to prepare for school teachers love to give the job to care and orientation in space. Indeed, this is a very important quality of a future first-graders. But they can be developed and in the kitchen!

Helping Mom

Baby at this age can already be trusted with simple kitchen operations. For example, peel boiled eggs, mix salad, set the table, thinking in advance, as you need plates, spoons, forks and knives. Commenting: "Knife — right fork — left." It is in such a simple, but at the same time very meaningful actions perfectly fixed basic logical concepts. For children — this is a very interesting process, they feel their involvement to date, an adult case. Of course, you will want to fix it inept, equally put tools and wash up the dishes after the child. Try to do it quietly, but in a conversation with my husband or a friend be sure to praise your little helper! Crumbs is very important to feel its significance for the family.

What has changed

Kitchen — a great place to train the care. Spread out in front of the baby more of any items (this can be fruits, vegetables, cutlery, etc.), enough to start 3-4. Now let the child turns away, and you remove one of the items. A more sophisticated version — not to remove the item from the field of view, and be moved to another location. The problem child — to restore the original state of affairs.

Odd man out

This is another puzzle game that starts the analysis skills. Put a child in front of, say, an apple, an orange and a box of matches. Who once in this company? The answer must necessarily prove, and, try to do it in different ways. For example, an apple and an orange can roll and boxes — no. And why not? Because apple and orange — round and boxes — rectangular. Apple and orange — edible and boxes — no. What do these things? Perhaps the presence of the shell (skin, boxes), under which the hidden content? As you can see, offers a huge field of creative thinking and innovative solutions.

Try to group objects by shape (round or elongated), color, size (large and smal
l), purpose (which is useful for sweet dishes, and that — for salt), etc.

If the child is already familiar with letters, can be spread from a magnetic alphabet words (easier to do it on the refrigerator): product names, kitchen utensils, today's lunch menu, etc. In the process, again gently you can see that it is a "burden" and is written "knife" because "knives". And make no mistake, the knowledge gained as if "between times, on the go," absorbed much better than those on the "hammering" of which were spent tremendous efforts.

Tilly-boiled dough …

Hit of the season at this age — a variety of tests. Special salt dough will come in handy for craft projects. For such a test, in equal proportions, combine flour and fine salt, add water to the consistency of soft clay, and then begin to sculpt a variety of figurines. Then they slowly harden in air. If you want to speed up this process, dry the crafts in the oven on very low heat.

But maybe your kid eager to equal rights to participate in the preparation of dinner? Then ask them to roll out the shortbread dough, cut molds cookies, decorate it with raisins or nuts. You just have to put the baking sheet of cookies in the oven, and then triumphantly hoisted on the table first culinary masterpiece for your child.

Here's a recipe that is always possible, and the best suited for this purpose.

For the dough:

  • 225 g flour
  • 125 g butter,
  • 125 g of sugar,
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 2 teaspoons of the mixture of spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom)
  • pinch of salt

For the glaze

  • 125 g of powdered sugar,
  • 1-2 tablespoons of hot water,
  • food coloring.

Beat the mixture into the lush butter and sugar. Without ceasing to beat, add the egg. Sift in the same bowl flour, salt and spices. Mix well and roll out the dough elastic ball. Now, on a floured surface roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.5 cm and with the help of molds cut out of it various figures. Bake at 190 degrees for about 15 minutes.

The finished cookies cool on a wire rack.

Mix in a bowl of powdered sugar and hot water until smooth. Spoon to spread the glaze 2-3 cups and add a drop of each food coloring. A little glaze leave unpainted. On the chilled pastry put half a teaspoon glaze and spread it over the surface. While the glaze is not frozen, cookies can be decorated with small nuts, candied fruits, raisins.

Usually this activity so exciting kids that you are guaranteed an hour of free time, as well as a sense of parental duty.
