Syria is in talks to join the agreement on free trade zone within the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, said Wednesday the Syrian official media.
In Moscow on the eve started meeting of the Russian-Syrian Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
According to Syrian media, the Commission, among others, will discuss ways to expand trade within the framework of the ongoing negotiations on the accession of Syria to the agreement on the free trade zone of the Customs Union, reports "Interfax".
Syrian media noted that a delegation from Damascus at a meeting chaired by the Minister of Finance Mohammad al-Zhleylati. Co-chair of the IPC on the Russian side is vice-premier Alexander Khloponin.
In an interview with the Syrian Minister of Finance informed the media that in Moscow the sides will discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation and joint ventures in energy, oil and gas, minerals and agriculture.
It is also planned to discuss the participation of Russian companies in the implementation of projects in Syria in the field of telecommunications.
The commission meeting will last until May 25.
