Syria wants to join the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus

The Minister of Economy and Trade of Syria Mohammad Zafar Mhabbak discussed with the Ambassador of Belarus in Damascus Oleg Ermolovich bilateral relations, in particular in the field of economy and trade, and ways of enhancing them.

According to the February 4, the Syrian state news agency SANA, the parties agreed to continue contacts in order to enhance the performance and the agreements signed between the two countries.
The Syrian minister expressed hope that Belarus will support the entry of Syria into the Customs Union, which includes Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

In turn, the Belarusian diplomat noted the progress made in recent years in the areas of investment and import-export trade, assuring his country's readiness to contribute to Syria's signing of the Free Trade Agreement with the Customs Union.
