Black Sea Fleet patrol ship OK to the Mediterranean

Watchdog Russian Black Sea Fleet, "OK" on Sunday left Sevastopol and headed for the Mediterranean.

In the coming days, the long-range three-month campaign in the Mediterranean and will go joint naval aircraft carrier group Northern and Baltic fleets Russia. The group, in particular, will include ships of the Northern Fleet — aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" and the large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Chabanenko", as well as the ships of the Baltic Fleet — TFR "Yaroslav the Wise" and tanker "Lena"

Earlier, about a week ago, the newspaper "Izvestia" reported that there are already aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" and the anti-submarine ship "Admiral Chabanenko". According to the publication, in the spring they have to go to the Syrian port of Tartuss to cover Syria from possible military strike and intervention on its territory.

A source in the Russian Navy denied this version justify the presence of Russian warships in the Mediterranean Sea. According to a representative of the Black Sea Fleet, to ensure safety of the ship when passing the Straits, and when parked in foreign ports on board, "OK" is an anti-terror unit from the marine brigade fleet. The ship also intends to enter the ports of Cyprus, Malta, France and Spain, for business purposes, RIA "Novosti".
