At the Komsomolsk refinery began work delayed coking unit, which will increase the depth of oil processing at the plant from 60 to 72%, increase the production of gasoline in the amount of up to 150 thousand tons per year and diesel fuel in the amount of up to 300,000 tons per year, as well as to manufacture a new type of products demanded by the market — petroleum coke. Plant capacity is 1 million tons per year of raw material, which are heavy petroleum residues.
Construction of the program is in line with the fundamental reconstruction of the plant, whose ultimate goal is the complete transition to the production of high quality products in accordance with environmental standards Euro 4 and Euro-5, kerosene Jet 1A, as well as the increase in depth of up to 98%.
It is expected that by the end of this year, with gasoline production at the Komsomolsk refinery increased compared to 2010 by 8 thousand tons of diesel fuel by 71 thousand tons of jet fuel at 7 kt at comparable volumes of crude oil. In 2010, the processing of "RN-Komsomolsk Refinery" was 7.7 million tons.
Construction of a delayed coking unit was started in 2007 as part of a radical reconstruction of the plant. The total investment in construction amounted to about 9.5 billion rubles. It is equipped with the most modern systems to prevent the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, equipped with a local system of water recycling and industrial sewage. The staff of the new installation has special education and received additional training at the Angarsk Petrochemical Company, also a part of the NK "Rosneft".
During the reconstruction of already built a catalytic reforming, isomerization, and a set of diesel hydrotreating unit with a unit of sulfur. In addition, the reconstructed primary oil refining CDU-AVT-2 and CDU-AVT-3.
Komsomolsk Oil Refinery (owned by "Rosneft") — the easternmost refinery in Russia. It was built in 1942 and is focused on the processing of Sakhalin and West Siberian oil. The plant provides oil products Far East region, as well as supplies for export to the Asia-Pacific region.
