Inflammation of the appendages (adnexitis, salpingo)

Inflammation of the appendages.

What is it?

Inflammation appendages also called adnexitis or salpingo-oophoritis, is the result of an infection of the epididymis ovaries.

Why did this happen?

Factor that provokes inflammation Ovary often appendages subcooling, such as prolonged sitting or lying on a cold surface. In addition, wet feet in cold weather can also cause adneksita.

Cause inflammation may be as "normal" agents, and sexually transmitted diseases. Most often it is a chlamydia and gonorrhea. If these bacteria as a result of infection fall into the female reproductive tract, they are not suitable acidic environment of the vagina and they are out to get into the pipe where the environment is more suitable. In addition, there is a cylindrical epithelium, which can live for chlamydia. These bacteria are armed with an arsenal of sufficient funds to fight the immune system.

Symptoms of inflammation of the appendages:

  • sharp or dull aching pain in the abdomen, worse before or during menstruation;
  • abdominal pain during sexual intercourse, decreased sex drive;
  • menstrual disorders;
  • fever, weakness.

Dangerous complication of inflammation of the ovaries is infertility. It arises from the fact that in the process of inflammation and epithelial cells affected fallopian tubes. As a result, disrupt their normal function, and the outcome can be scarring of the tubes, which completely disables its work.

During long-term inflammation of the ovarian capsule is the proliferation of connective tissue. Ovarian capsule thickens becomes denser. And it may be that it is too strong and will not burst at the time of ovulation, the follicle. Ripened egg is not able to leave the follicle. In this case, the pregnancy will also be possible.

In addition to the pipe and the ovary is affected adjacent to them peritoneum — the inner membrane of the abdominal cavity. To limit the spread of infection in the peritoneum, grows connective tissue and adhesions are formed, which are glued together sheets of the peritoneum. Adhesions violate intestinal motility, which can lead to pain, constipation, and diarrhea. It also reduces the mobility of the fallopian tubes, which is necessary for the full transfer of the egg to the uterus.

Thus, the transferred inflammation ovaries can cause infertility. This form of infertility is difficult to treat. Also in violation of the mobility or the fallopian tube may develop an ectopic pregnancy.

Especially strongly disrupted the fallopian tubes and ovaries, if the process is prolonged, chronic course. And to it almost always results in a sharp inflammation, if left untreated. Therefore, when the signs of inflammation of the need to see a gynecologist and do not expect that the disease will pass on their own.

Diagnosis and treatment

InflammationAppendages to be distinguished from a number of diseases which present similar symptoms. Used a survey and physical examination of the patient, as well as additional research methods: a pelvic ultrasound, blood tests and urine tests. In some cases, shows a diagnostic laparoscopy.

Only after an accurate diagnosis is made treatment that is anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, reducing (absorbable adhesions) therapy. Treatment should be long, imaginary welfare should not be cause for early termination of treatment.

Prevention of inflammation of the appendages:

  • Avoid exposure to cold, especially in the genital area;
  • protect yourself from infections, sexually transmitted infections;
  • Remember that medical abortion greatly increase the risk of ascending infection.
