Japanese fighters receive analogue Russian AA-12 Adder

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will equip the new air combat missiles AAM-4B 60 fighter F-2.
 
Modernization fighters will be held within the contract price of 468 million dollars, as a result are expected to increase the combat effectiveness of F-2. The new version of AAM-4B is armed:
GOS with active phased array (AESA radar seeker)
an improved data transmission system.
AAM-4B will be integrated with an upgraded radar J/APG-2, owning much greater detection range than the layout. Analysts believe that the AAM-4B will be accepted for service as a substitute for AIM-7F / M Sparrow, produced under license by Mitsubishi Electric.

AAM-4B on upgraded F-2 will provide an opportunity to capture a few goals beyond visual appearances, significantly increasing the combat survivability of fighters. Implementation AFAR GOS missiles AAM-4B is apparently the first to experience a similar class of missiles «air».

Missile AAM-4B, reportedly designed to match or exceed the Russian AA-12 Adder (RVV-AE). Now the Japanese fighters Boeing F-15J were armed with missiles AAM-4 in 2007. The missile is armed with active radar guidance system and integrated data system that allows the pilot to use it in capture mode on the goal line of motion.
