Foreign tourist flow to Moscow has grown by 10%
The number of international arrivals in the Russian capital in the first half of 2013 amounted to 2.7 million people, — the Committee on Tourism and hotel business in Moscow, citing data from the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation. The growing number of tourists from China is fully consistent with trends on the world tourist market. China is currently one of the major «donors» outbound tourist traffic. Thus, the increase in tourist traffic from Japan amounted to 15.3%, from Russia — 15.8%, in the UK — 12.0%, from Russia — 11.4%, from the United States — 7.9%. Positive effect on the growth of tourist traffic and visa-free regime with several countries: Israel added 7.0% and Brazil 10.6%. Among the countries showing high growth rate of arrivals in Moscow when the volume of tourist traffic is insignificant, it may be noted Greece (30.3%), the Czech Republic (30.1%), Slovakia (25.4%), Belgium (22.5%), Finland (12.5%), as well as Argentina and Mexico (by 21.0%). In the structure of inbound flow from foreign countries the proportion of foreign nationals referred to «tourism» as the goal of his trip to Moscow, was 34.2%, the share of business travelers had 39.2%. The share of private visits increased by almost 5% and amounted to 19.4%. Taking into account the seasonal fluctuations in demand for tours to Moscow, there is reason to believe that, like last year, the number of international arrivals from foreign countries with cultural and informative purposes for the year will exceed the number of business trips.
