Grains, nuts, and mixtures thereof.
Crops used for privazhivaniya carp fish in general and in particular for more than a century and is probably the most ancient kind of bait used by the person at catching fish. What makes them so popular among anglers? Why, despite the widespread of modern high-performance types of baits, such as boilies and pellets, over the composition employing entire teams of specially trained people, crops continue to firmly hold its place in the arsenal of almost all carp anglers (from top athletes to the village grandfathers continuing although the old-fashioned, but very successful catching carp on a bamboo rod with a float from goose feather)?
The causes are many. The first of these, perhaps, is the availability of grains. In contrast to the above boilies and pellets, corn or wheat can be easily purchased or «get» at any of the remote village. The second — a relatively low cost of most kinds of grain (in recent years, perhaps with the exception of cannabis greatly increase in price). The third reason — the simplicity of preparation and storage of grains and nuts. As for subjective reasons, it’s probably all.
But there are a number of objective reasons for making cereal one of the most popular types of bait. Crops are very attractive targets for carp food. Firstly, fish culture ponds (and in such we have in most cases and fish), they say, «a young fin» accustomed to eating feed based on a variety of grains, offered her masters ponds both in pure form, and as part of various granular compound feed (recipes are developed not stupid people). Secondly, the body of carp (grass carp and even more so) is able to allocate a significant amount of amylase (enzyme that breaks down the raw starch), so with the digestion of plant foods had no problems arise.
When using cereal baits should exercise some caution — in some reservoirs in making an excessive amount of grain in the area of fishing can be so attractive to the fish, it will look for them only, ignoring the boilies (including packed).
In several previous articles we have examined in detail the composition of different grains and nuts, which, in addition to carbohydrates and protein, contain large amounts of enzymes that promote the absorption of nutrients in fish. For use as a bait could be used as some kinds of nuts and seeds as well as their ethers and esters mixtures and combinations with other types of grain feed, e.g., cake and meal, granular bait, etc. Speaking of beans, I mean like actually cereals and legumes, as it happened among carp anglers, even though, strictly speaking, this is not true in terms of crop production. In English, there is a generic term «particles» (the particles). Some carp anglers, speaking of cereals and legumes, use the term «Particle», but I personally think that the Russian language and so much unnecessarily littered foreign word formation, so it is better to use will not entirely accurate term — the grain.
Among the most popular grains and nuts used in the composition of carp baits are the following: wheat, corn, peas, hemp, oats, rye, barley, triticale, buckwheat, millet, vetch, lupine, rapeseed, sunflower, sorghum, peanuts, tiger nuts, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, anise, Abyssinian nug. As I said, it is possible to lure and only any one kind of grain, but properly composed mixture, I think, has a much greater efficiency. Nevertheless, the brief will focus on the features of the preparation of certain types of grains.
The most popular way to prepare grain for a long time is cooking. The technological process in this case is similar for most grains and differs only in the length of its individual phases. The first step is to get rid of the junk and the ubiquitous dust, any grains must rinse well (preferably running water), then soak for a while and cook. To increase the palatability of grains at the stage of cooking can be added thirty grams of salt (preferably sea) per kilogram of grains, as well as a certain amount of sugar. To speed up the cooking process (which may be relevant when used as a heat source of bottled gas), you can use a pressure cooker (in the market, in the places where they sell all sorts of old things, you can still find a pressure cooker production in the USSR, that is the best suited for this purpose ). Fine grains can not cook, but just after washing put them in a thermos, pour boiling water and let stand a couple of hours. For this very convenient to use metal thermos of large capacity, which can be found in the same place and the pressure cooker. If you wish to give grains smell, flavor booster or another is better to add to it almost immediately after cooking, when cooled to a temperature of 50-60 ° C. In this case, the grain will absorb the flavor is much better, and then they shall deliver him into the water much longer.
Very effective (maybe even most effective), in my opinion, such ways of processing the grain as germination and fermentation. Both processes allow for the use of natural mechanisms to convert part of the grain in the most easily digestible and attractive in terms of the shape of a carp.
Each seed contains enzyme inhibitors (inhibitors -Substance delaying or preventing during any chemical reaction, in this case, preventing the enzyme), to protect it from premature sprouting. For this reason, nuts and legumes are «heavy» food. Thermal treatment destroys enzyme inhibitors in the seeds, but along with them destroyed vitamins and other valuable substances. When injected into a favorable environment enzyme inhibitors are destroyed by themselves, the possibility of giving the seed to germinate. During germination of all seeds it contains enzymes (enzymes) break down proteins, fats and carbohydrates are stored for growth. When exposed to germination contained in grain amylolytic enzymes decomposes the incoming side in the grain starch into simple sugars and the exposed portion of proteolytic enzymes degrades proteins into amino acids.
Thus, the germinated seeds are partially digested, easy to digest food (which is important for not having the stomach carp). Furthermore, during the germination of seeds increased content of vitamins and other antioxidants. Also, most importantly, as a result of enzymatic processes occurring during germination of grains, greatly increases the amount contained therein of soluble substances. This greatly facilitates the detection of such grains and fish significantly increases their nutritional appeal.
It should be borne in mind that the best composition of the grains have the initial phase of germination, when the sprouts hatch only.
There are many ways to germinate seeds. I have repeatedly and in detail described in the articles, as I do, so very briefly on with the technology used.
Grains should be thoroughly rinsed and thinly spread out in a flat dish (for example, I use this for the trays). Then you need to pour a little water into the container — so that it does not cover grains completely. My expertise is sprouting grains under the film, it relieves me of the need to control the rest of the evaporating water from time to time to add it. I put trays of seeds in conventional garbage bags and put them on the window sill. Once the hatch sprouts and appears peculiar smell that accompanies the process of fermentation, the grain should be thoroughly washed, if they are not to be used immediately after germination, then either dried or frozen. With germination can significantly improve the efficiency of virtually all grains. Personally, I often germinated wheat.
The fermentation can also be considered a «cold» is not in need of heating the starting material to a high temperature, which allows to keep the maximum extent contained in the grain nutrients. When the composition of the fermentation of grain transformation is due to the life of bacteria developing in the vessel with fermentables product. As a result of digestion by increasing the amount contained in the grain of free amino acids and simple sugars and, as a consequence, increase the availability for absorption by the body of carp, food appeal of fermented grains is much higher than this show. The easiest way to fermentation is soaking beans in plenty of water, followed by placement of the vessel containing them in a warm place (eg, the sun). To accelerate the process it is possible to add a so-called «fast» yeast, or sold in pharmacies barm (preferably methionine and cysteine-rich), and molasses — a rate of about ten liters per liter of the grain. A few days later a great bait is ready. In the process of fermentation of grains should be from time to time to stir and add water if necessary.
More complex, but also a more efficient way of fermentation of grains, which allows to obtain high-quality and attractive product, is to perform anaerobic fermentation (who saw how wine is made, knows what I mean). Anaerobic fermentation is carried out without oxygen. This allows the alcoholic fermentation during anaerobic bacteria which break down the starch contained in the grain to simple sugars and then to alcohol. Probably, the best results can be achieved using the sealed container and the water seal, but it is associated with certain labor costs, therefore, I, to my shame, this method in practice, have not tried.
However, there is a compromise technique. Grain should be placed in ordinary plastic plastic bottles and pour the water. The water should be added to a certain amount of yeast, sugar or molasses. Fill plastic bottles should be such that there is enough space left for produced during alcoholic fermentation of carbon dioxide, and then tighten the lid. Margin of Safety a flask allow it to cope with any pressure. Per kilogram of grain will need one and a half liters of water, a teaspoon of dry yeast, and about fifty grams of molasses. Even more interesting effect can be achieved if used instead of yeast preparation of EM-A, which described in detail in a previous article in this series.
Thus, certain types of grains can be prepared in various ways, paired with different amount of time and labor.
But I still do not recommend using the individual grains, and mixtures thereof. Properly selected and properly cooked grain mixture can significantly extend the residence time of fish in the fishing zone. Forming part of the cereal mixture, you should try to make it as easy as possible for the more complex eating carp, which will delay its fishing zone as long as possible. For this purpose, the mixture should be present various grain sizes and shapes. Suck diverse in size and shape food items carp is much more complicated than homogeneous. As a result, part of the grains will inadvertently fall out of the mouth of fish, thereby introducing it into a state of alimentary excitation, which can result in loss of intensive care and only picking up from the bottom, which is similar to food (including our nozzles).
As a basis for a grain mix, I would recommend using wheat. It is small, and quickly find and eat it is not so easy. The specific chemical composition of wheat is very well suited for carp in many respects, it can be assimilated by the fish to a large extent.
Wheat supplement grains of different shapes and sizes. Also complicating the process of eating such fish mixture by its complex structure, we achieve the maximum possible balance, since certain types of grains will complement each other.

To further enrich the grain mixture can also be added to it about a kilogram of peeled peanuts and the same amount of shelled sunflower seeds.
To prepare zernosmes first to soak its desired amount (preferably in water from the reservoir) for ten-twelve hours and then cook. To improve the palatability of grain mixture at the stage of cooking, you can add about thirty grams of salt (preferably sea) per kilogram of grain. Cooking time can be monitored by a mixture of hemp — as soon as the majority of its grain will be revealed, the product is ready. Further zernosmes be cooled to a temperature of about 50 ° C, then add it to a booster with the same odor as the remaining components groundbait program.
We do not knowingly enter into the grain mixture oatmeal. Firstly, they are well vberut a booster odor and then also give good in water. Secondly, it is welded, oatmeal create abundant in the water turbidity, effectively attract fish, which quickly spread to the significant distance from the area lured, thus expanding the scope of the bait.
If fishing takes place in cold water to the grain mixture, you can add chilies, turmeric, paprika flour, garlic powder and other spices. Very good results can be achieved by adding to the grain mixture different natural plant extracts, for example, corn liquor, or tiger nut extract.
Zernosmes can also ferment one of the methods described above (as a rule, I am doing so).
You can lure both clean grain mixture (using rocket-feeders) and combining it with the loose balls in the bait.
As I mentioned above, properly cooked grains are so attractive to the fish, it may stop responding to other types of food. If this happens, try to use as packing one or two grains fermented corn raised using floating yellow foam.
