Miroslav Ribar was born in Brno Zhabovreski, Moravia in 1924. In 1943 graduated from the engineering school and began to work at an arms factory in Brno as an engineer. After the liberation of Czechoslovakia, Ribar worked closely with the famous weapons designer Václav Holec. Thanks to him, Ribar interested in weapons and in 1948 switched to its construction.
When in 1945 reopened Czechoslovak universities, Ribar became a student of full-time State Technical University in Brno. In March 1950, he successfully completed this school and received a diploma in mechanical engineering. After the end of compulsory military service, he returned to Ribar engineering design office handguns, headed by Jaroslaw Mislikom. Here he is getting individual tasks for design studies of individual units of small arms, gradually gained his experience as desired. But Ribar thought for independent work that is not enough, and continued his studies by enrolling in the graduate of the Military Academy. Antonin Zapotocky. In 1958, he successfully defended his thesis on sub-machine gun of his own design «W-59» (the prototype of the famous’ Scorpion »Vz. 1961).
From that time until his death in 1970. Ribar was engaged only in the development of new types of small arms. For example, he took an active part in the creation of a universal machine gun «Thunder» arr. 1959 (Rachot L UK Vz.59) Antonina Handicap.
