And I think everyone will be found first, important childhood memory when suddenly discover something totally unexpected, surprising — it is the beginning of life, imprinted forever, the other parts and subsequent events have completely erased.

It was in Kuskovo: in 1749 by a pond on the side of the church began to build a Dutch house, and exactly two centuries later in the barracks not far from the place was born Valery Vlasov. Mysterious and beautiful boy seemed estate of Count Sheremetyev, which could penetrate through the dilapidated gate. Later, in the late 1980s, childhood memories turn into a series of etchings «Kuskovo», which not only shows a regular park with beautiful architecture and a piece of the old suburbs that in the XVIII century magnificently was called «Summer countryside entertainment home of Count Sheremetev.»

Living on the outskirts of Moscow, near the manor house, where the majority of houses in one or two floors, and in the courtyard gardens and orchards, has given a sense of intimacy and openness of land, which are present in all the works of the artist. Every day, at any time of the year he goes to the sketches or sitting at home at the window, making pencil sketches and watercolor — «picking up» stuff that will certainly be used in the future. Aware that the equipment — only a means, not the goal of the artist, Vlasov worked tirelessly to fluent rukomeslom. Enthusiastically talking about their field work, the artist immediately restrains himself and notes that one of delight, experience is not enough for art, you need to think creatively and to be able to realize the idea of ​​a craftsman with a sure hand.

When he came to the art room at age 13, Vlasov worked hard at drawing and painting, trying to quickly acquire professional skills. His childhood passion for painting turns into a vital necessity, the meaning of life.

The main feature of his work — a love of nature, understanding it as the basis of a genuine Russian art.

Along with painting and drawing Vlasov began to work in engraving. With an album in the hands roams the streets of Moscow, goes through the ancient city, making countless sketches, trying to capture the characteristics of a particular area. The result is a generalization of what he saw, based on a deep study of nature — the most valuable quality prints. It creates big series «In Moscow», «Suzdal». Lyrical landscape, in which more and more includes architecture, become the main passion of the artist.

In the 1970s, several years in a row, Vlasov leaves for the summer in the Ryazan region. Fertile land, fields, meadows, grass — and all this changes lives. Similar feelings were a child … Admiration plastic and textured richness of detail, the world around him, we see the first works of this period: «Mugs,» «Old Well», «fence». Swirls and smallest cracks of each peg, the walls and roof of the house, which is no longer the owners, every shadow, reflex — any part of the structure of complex graphics — all masterfully drawn.

Much has changed over time in the views and interests of the artist. But he found the main thing: found myself convinced that his vocation — etching. In 1979, for the first time, with no skills Vlasov tries to run dry needle. It appears pictorial story about an old bush plantain, disheveled burdock, nettle slim the fence — «characters» of the first work in the new technology. Overcoming natural, sometimes purely technical difficulties using the advice of experienced Etchers artist from job to job gains skill.

Etching — is not easy, very subtle and requires more than purely artistic gift, but the possession of certain technical skills. And in the most diverse fields: it’s chemistry — etched with nitric acid and copper sulfate, and knowledge of metallurgy, machinery and primary metal processing — in short, a real «alchemy.» And as the secrets of this old and one of the most promising techniques of graphic art, each master their own, especially what had no choice but to invent for themselves again. Vlasov invented and invented. Homemade etching machine, made on the occasion; technology applying thin layer of lacquer on a polished metal plate, the board (by the way, the varnish of French company «Le France» managed to successfully replace asphalt and bitumen, which is produced in the city of Syzran not for etching, and corrosion-resistant coating for boilers); formidable technique works in reverse, and a negative image, and much, much more. And the result is obvious — almost all of them started work appeared at Moscow, regional, all exhibitions, he was admitted to the Union of Artists.

Everyday life with all its minutiae is in front of us in the «rustic interior»: uncomplicated furniture — chairs with cracked seats, cracked planks unpainted sex at an early hour clear summer morning, a table at a low window with a kerosene lamp (in case of storm or something else ), hot tea and Jug of fresh milk. A receiver in the neighborhood, from which the other can hear the rhythms of life … But the inexorable march of time that the old clocks ticking on the whitewashed wall. And it is quite clear — what they see, «looking» at the opening away views of an ancient monastery.

During the summer comes autumn. Cold wind, and the sun less and less recalls the frozen hands of women, rinsing clothes in the icy water. Low flying sea gull in search of profit. Boat creaked rhythmically swaying tethered to the plank piers. Quiet, measured life for several centuries is reflected in the calm surface of Lake Siverskoye. Powerful monastic tower, as if petrified formidable guard, heroes, vigilantly guarding the land with its worldly life. «Boats at St. Cyril-Belozersky Monastery» — etching from the series «Small cities of Russia», made in 1990.

Sheet «City Moore. Annunciation and Holy Trinity «is a lyrical perception of monastic suburbs. The artist was able to feel the originality and charm of Murom XVII century with a lot of different details — tiled inserts, fanciful porches and portals pass in not only the beauty and power of the famous architectural ensembles, but more important, touches the soul of the characteristic features of rural life with its joys and sorrows , concerns and rare rest in the blessed corner of the native land.

Last year, Vlasov has completed work on a series of etchings devoted to one of the unique phenomenon of Russian architecture — the ensemble of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, howling.
