We go from stock red to racin’ while this month on our TE449
This has been a great month on the TE449 and I have a heap of photos to show what we’ve been up to. We’ve done a lot of riding that included three epic rides on some prime trails. We’ve also made our first real changes to the ТЕ with a heap of genuine parts and the Husqvama Racing Kit that’s available for both the 449 and 511.
The riding has been a mixed bag in terms of weather and that’s partly what made the rides so good. The first one started in overcast but reasonable conditions and then just turned into a biblical downpour that had us riding straight into a flash flood. The tracks were covered with water for about 300 metres that went up to our seats at times and this was just on the ordinary trails. We ended up getting lost and when we finally realised where we were it still made no sense how we got there.
The next ride we revisited a new single trail we’d never seen before and ended up putting 60 kilometres down on fresh tracks that hadn’t seen a bike for a long time. We coupled that with the fast open sections and plotted a loop that had a bit of everything going on.
The next great ride we went back to the same spot and found another great track. It was like Christmas and these loops will get our attention for a while now, I reckon.
The Husqvarna Racing Kit has came in this month and coupled with a few other additions of our choosing the bike went from bone stock to pretty damn flash in a day.

The RRP for the ТЕ 449/511 Husqvarna Racing Kit is $1,34725 (incl. GST), which is a saving of 23.7 per cent compared to buying the single items.
We also added some items to this list, mainly to cap off the change in look of the TE449. Again, from the genuine parts catalogue we grabbed a red chain-and-sprocket combo and some red Husqvarna rim tape.
ON THE BUMPY STUFF
So why did we fit the Racing Kit? Firstly, because it offers a chance to change the way the ТЕ looks. Not because we didn’t like it stock, but this is a unique look and I kind of like to have something a little different.
Also, the adjustable triple clamps allow you to increase the offset by 20mm, which will change the way the bike steers and handles quite dramatically. This had me intrigued.
The clamps are pretty neat-looking black units and the first thing I noticed when riding with them fitted was that it was a more jarring ride. There are no rubber mounts and instead it’s all feel through the ‘bars which took me a little while to get used to. We rode first up with the stock offset and will run them with the change-around as soon as we can.
There are no breakages or damage to report and I’m more and more impressed by the ТЕ every month. It’s an excellent bike in so many ways and I believe I’m riding faster in single trail than I have for many years [Paul is faster pretty much everywhere on the ТЕ — Ed]. The light and thin feel, along with the great and forgiving suspension work to make the ТЕ so easy and in no way fatiguing to navigate through snotty terrain.
