The efficacy of chemical weed control measures

In Mogilev Regional State Agricultural Experiment Station in 1962-1963, we studied the effect of different herbicides in fruit-bearing 30-year-old and three-year period at a young garden, in the fields of formation and the school fruit seedlings nursery. Also take into account the action of herbicides in their introduction of one and two years before laying School seedlings.

Soil — heavy loam, underlain at a depth of about one meter moraine loam. Herbicides of 1000 liters per hectare fluid was added using a sprayer.

Due to heavy rainfall, the soil is well moistened, we were able to identify not only the herbicidal properties of the test drugs, but resistance to them fruit plants. For example, in the phase of seedling seedlings killed by small doses of herbicides (2-3 kg of the drug per 1 ha), introduced before sowing seeds or sparring, and after 3-4 weeks in the phase of 3-4 true leaves of the plant tolerate higher doses of herbicides root action suppressing weed growth. It was also found that a pear than an apple tree, resistant to high concentrations.

Simazine in the amount of 8-12 kilograms per hectare, introduced under the previous culture (corn) for one and two years prior to pick the seedlings, decreased survival rate of seedlings apple. Positive results were obtained with the introduction of 4 kilograms of the drug for two years before setting the seedlings school: labor costs for weeding decreased compared to the control by 20%.

Simazine — root herbicide action, so it can be used when the fruit trees are in a leafy state without causing them burns.

Due to the fact that after the appearance of the first true leaves of the seedlings to simazine resistance increases, making the drug in early June a dose of 2 kg per hectare is much reduced clogging. The death of the weeds in the normal rainfall begins in two weeks. The best results were achieved double the use of simazine.

In 1 and 2 form fields when making 4 kilograms’ simazine in April (before or at the beginning of bud) weeds almost completely killed only by mid-June, so I had to weed once.

In the garden of a young tree trunks simazine at a dose of 8-12 kilograms spring after digging the soil is completely ruined weeds and labor costs for manual processing were down 50 to 56%. In the treatment of drug (8 kg na1ga) fruiting garden soil with a long sod (bluegrass, bluegrass and fescue) have yellowing leaves of weeds and partially died off roots, but after 1-2 months turf acquired previous form.

Monuron and diuron are similar in chemical structure and the effects on plants. They have a root and contact action, so when used after the swelling buds on the trees herbicides cause burns, especially apple. Compared with simazine they have better solubility in water and their herbicidal effect was shown earlier. Furthermore, they will be removed from the soil. If you make 4 kilos monuron autumn in areas designated as a school of seedlings, the amount of perennial weeds decreased. Unlike simazine this drug has no negative effect on the survival and growth of apple seedlings.

In the fields of formation gave the best results use monuron (4 kg per 1 ha) when making up to the swelling of the kidneys. Weeds were killed in mid-May and did not require weeding, held a cultivation. The fertile garden monuron action and diuron on turf was as ineffective as simazine.

Dalapon destroyed monocots weeds. In the nursery and garden young he was unfit because there were many dicotyledonous weeds, particularly wild radish. In the apple tree in the leafy state, it causes burns the leaves. On the second floor nursery dalapon at 10 kilograms per hectare, even before bud break has caused some delay in the growth of yearling grades Pepin saffron apple, pear as different varieties grown on these plots normally.

Good actions have dalapon when handling sod in the fertile garden (at the rate of 15-20 kilograms per hectare). This completely killed the aerial part and roots of weeds, and appeared in a small number of bipartite weeds subsequently destroyed preparation of 2,4-D.

Herbicides had no negative effect on the growth of apple, because the tree trunks were treated so that the drug does not fall on the leaves.
